Make three holes
evenly spaced around the top of each plastic cup. Tie a piece of string through each hole. Next tie the other side of the string to the plastic hanger so that each cup is on either side of the hanger. Hang the hanger on a door handle and place items in the cups. Talk about how the weights in each cup are equal if the hanger is balanced. Add heavy items to the one cup and light items to the other cup. Discuss why the hanger is not balanced anymore. |
